Button Extends Contract with McLaren

Jenson Button will still be raced using the McLaren Mercedes car. Button has just extended his contract until some time into the future.

Signing a new contract with McLaren Button took place on Wednesday (5/10/2011). No mention of how long the duration of the contract, but the McLaren called the agreement between the two until a few years into the future.

"New contract for Jenson is a step that will strengthen the long term stability and continued development of the McLaren formula one victory of becoming the success further a world champion," McLaren statement as reported in CNN.

Button joins McLaren in 2010, or a season after becoming world champion with Brawn GP. In that season he managed to be in the top five standings, while now he is in position two.

"I've won four of the greatest races throughout my career here, I am currently sitting in the position of the two drivers ' Championship, and I feel if I'm driving better than before."

"You can only achieve that with the right support-and I fully believe that the spirit and determination to win at McLaren is greater than anywhere else," the driver had won the final two races in 2011.
