Still in Lockout, Bobcats Reduce Employees

Bobcats
Yet two weeks of the NBA in lockout status, at least two teams started doing trimming employees. Both clubs are the Charlotte Bobcats and the Detroit Pistons.

The AP reported, at least seven staff were laid off Bobcats, among them radio announcer tim Scott Lauer, Director of corporate communications Michael Thompson, Manager of community relations Kim Beal. The others are in the sales and business operations.

So far there has been no official comment about pruning such employees, including those of the owner of the Club which is also the NBA Legend Michael Jordan. However, their spokesman has stated that less than 10 people have been released.

"We are not discussing personal matters," said the spokesman, Bj Evans, without commenting further.

A similar situation occurred in the Detroit Pistons, who had fired 15 employees last week. It's just that they did not give details about it. The Pistons last month has been acquired by Tom Gores.

The owners of the NBA has been "locked" (lockout) the players after failing to reach an agreement for some of the New Testament, so that the activity of players are frozen until the time is not specified. This could threaten the start of the 2011-2012 season competition.

This is not a special Bobcats, their first time facing financial problems and reduce employees, before Jordan bought the Club a year ago. Prior to the trimming of the latter, they employ approximately 130 people. Bobcats are one of the "22 teams that are losing money", as it was called the NBA.
